The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued the "Notice on Carrying out Energy Efficiency Standardization Activities in Key Energy-Using Industries", which proposes to take the lead in carrying out energy efficiency standards-compliant activities in four key energy-using industries, including chemical, steel, non-ferrous metals, and building materials. In the past few days, this has caused widespread concern in the chemical industry. Recently, the reporter interviewed relevant industry experts on this issue. They agreed that energy efficiency benchmarking will promote the "comparison, learning, catch-up, and surpass" among enterprises in the industry, thereby improving the energy efficiency of enterprises, reducing energy consumption and production. It is understood that in order to fully complete the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" energy saving and emission reduction targets, the four industries that have initiated energy efficiency benchmarking activities this time involve 13 industries including crude steel, electrolytic aluminum, synthetic ammonia, caustic soda, and calcium carbide. For various products (processes), the advanced level of energy efficiency of domestic similar enterprises will be used as the reference value, and the energy efficiency level will be benchmarked to reach the standard. The synthetic ammonia energy efficiency benchmarking index, the caustic soda energy efficiency benchmarking index, and the calcium carbide energy efficiency benchmarking index using anthracite as the raw material will serve as the reference standards for the chemical industry to carry out energy efficiency level benchmarking activities.  

The reporter noticed that among the benchmark energy efficiency indicators for synthetic ammonia using anthracite as raw material, the comprehensive energy consumption of high-quality anthracite lump coal, the comprehensive energy consumption of briquette, raw coal consumption (high-quality anthracite lump coal), and raw coal consumption (briquette) are 1420, respectively. 1650, 1180 and 1410 kilograms of standard coal/ton; the energy efficiency benchmark indicators of caustic soda products in the chlor-alkali industry are specified in terms of liquid caustic soda, solid caustic soda, electricity consumption, and steam consumption according to the ion-exchange membrane method and the diaphragm method; the energy efficiency of calcium carbide Benchmarking indicators are divided into two categories: energy consumption indicators and recovery indicators. Among the energy consumption indicators, the comprehensive energy consumption is 1,000 kg standard coal/ton, and the exhaust gas recovery rate in the recovery indicators is 100%.

It is reported that as early as November 2007, the National Development and Reform Commission began to implement energy efficiency benchmarking trials in key energy-consuming industries such as the chemical industry, steel, and cement. The chemical industry chose Haohua Yuhang Chemical Company, Shandong Hengtong Chemical Company, and Hebei Shenghua Chemical Company 3 A caustic soda enterprise serves as a pilot unit. The pilot work has achieved obvious results, and the technology has reached the domestic advanced level. This energy efficiency benchmarking activity is an extension and extension of the previous pilot.
